Student Impact Stories

Sewanee and the liberal arts education I’ve received here have opened my mind tremendously. I came to Sewanee wanting to focus on pre-med, with a plan to take the courses necessary to support my admission to medical school. But after taking two Spanish courses and a Spanish history course, I decided to become a Spanish major on the pre-med track. I know that if I had gone to almost any other school, my studies would have been more narrowly focused on med-school requirements. Thanks to those who support Sewanee students by providing resources for scholarships, I’ve been able to attend Sewanee, to be a member of the football and track teams, the residential-life staff, and the Honor Council. Choosing Sewanee is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. YSR!

I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend a university that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and social growth. Because Sewanee encourages exploration in a number of fields, I plan on becoming an English major with a minor in psychology. I love getting to know my professors and getting involved in campus activities. The generosity of those supporting education at Sewanee has enabled me to take full advantage of a liberal arts education.
